The Hands

Master Hand used to be Mario's right hand, but after an incident where Mario tragically lost both of his hands during a karting accident, the wind picked them up and swept them all the way to the Subspace. The right hand was possessed by the soul of Waluigi, who was murdered by Sakurai because he kept complaining about not being a fighter yet. The left hand was possessed by the souls of every fully evolved grass starter for similar reasons. The giant floating hands quickly became known as Master Hand (because Waluigi is smart and evil) and Crazy Hand (because all the grass starters are fighting for control), vowing to destroy all fighters out of jealousy.
